IXL Practice Tuesday a few students will finish their Unit 4 math test. Students will also be activating prior knowledge around fractions and taking the Unit 5 pre-test which will be used to help determine which skills we need to focus on, those we need to review, and those that students are currently proficient with. Unit 5 will focus on fraction and mixed number computation, and identifying and measuring angles (more detailed information to come later).
Students who wish to build some background prior to this unit should check out Khan Academy. These tutorials and include video lessons and practice to help build on what students already know about fractions. Standards Covered on EM4 Unit #4 Assessment
IXL Practice Supporting EM4 Unit #4 4.1.1.3 Multiply multi-digit numbers, using efficient and generalizable procedures, based on knowledge of place value, including standard algorithms.
4.2.2.2 Use multiplication, division and unknowns to represent a given problem situation using a number sentence. Use number sense, properties of multiplication, and the relationship between multiplication and division to find values for the unknowns that make the number sentences true.
4.3.2.4 Find the areas of geometric figures and real-world objects that can be divided into rectangular shapes. Use square units to label area measurements. 0 Comments Students will take the second District Comprehensive Assessment (DCA) today. It will be completed online with no time limit. There are no calculators, notes, or help from teachers on this assessment.
Standards Covered on DCA #2
We are wrapping up our work in Unit 4 and will be taking the assessment next week. Today students will bring home a review packet of Home Links, including the answer key. This packet can be used to review and practice content from the unit. Students may choose to complete it all or just the parts they need additional practice with. The Home Link packet can be a helpful tool in preparing for the unit assessment. These packets will not be collected or graded, however there will be time in class for students to ask questions on concepts they need help with.
Looking Ahead: Monday 1/14 - DCA #2 (District Comprehensive Assessment) Tuesday 1/15 - Review Day for Unit 4 Wednesday 1/16 - Unit 4 Test IXL Practice Supporting Standards on DCA #2 4.1.1.3 Multiply multi-digit numbers, using efficient and generalizable procedures, based on knowledge of place value, including standard algorithms.
4.2.1.1 Create and use input-output rules involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve problems in various contexts. Record the inputs and outputs in a chart or table.
4.2.2.2 Use multiplication, division and unknowns to represent a given problem situation using a number sentence. Use number sense, properties of multiplication, and the relationship between multiplication and division to find values for the unknowns that make the number sentences true.
Students will review and prepare for DCA #2 (District Comprehensive Assessment). This test will be taken next week on Monday, January 14th.
