I grew up in the small town of Mora, Minnesota. My college years were spent at Bethel and the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. My husband and I have an 9th grade son, who attends Mounds View High School. We also have an energetic dog, named Friday, and a bearded dragon lizard, named Norbert.
This is my fifth year at Island Lake and in the Mounds View School District, but I have 14 years of teaching experience in neighboring Roseville. I have experience teaching grades 4-6 and supporting teachers as a Literacy Coach. For five years I also worked district wide as an Equity & Integration Coordinator and served as the AVID District Director. When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and baking, traveling, camping, boating, playing board/card games, watching movies, and reading. I am also learning how to play the ukulele and use a sewing machine.
I am excited to work with 4th grade math and support amazing teachers at Island Lake as we work to provide engaging and meaningful instruction and learning experiences.
